Idylwood Park

Redmond, WA

Trips

Idylwood Park is something of an annoyance for me.  It's super close to our house, so it's almost difficult to justify not going there.  There's plenty of parking and there's plenty of space to launch your boat without having to deal with swimmers.  On the other hand, the parking is at the top of a hill, a good long walk away from the water.  Which makes it difficult to justify actually going there.  Especially since Lake Sammamish just isn't as interesting of a place to paddle as Lake Washington.

Pros:  Easy launching on sandy beaches.

Cons:  A long, steep walk from the parking lot to the water.

Overall:  Not a bad place to get on Lake Sammamish, but not terribly exciting either.

Decided to go out for a paddle today and I'd be lying if I didn't say that it was to test out my new waterproof camera.  I figured, what the heck, Idylwood is close, I'll just go there.  Apparently I'd forgotten about that long walk down the hill to the water.
